The Horses and Ponies Protection Association is one of the oldest and most
respected Charities for equine welfare. HAPPA was founded in 1937 to help
fight against the transportation of large horses to the continent for
slaughter.
HAPPA has played a major role in getting better protection for horses with
the Riding Establishments Act, The Ponies Act 1969, The Illegal Tethering
Act 1991, and through setting up the National Equine Welfare Committee in
1997. We are continually fighting to get better legislation passed in order
to protect horses, ponies and donkeys from cruelty and neglect. |
